"RUBBER"

In our lecture we watched a film called "Rubber”.  I’m not actually entirely sure what the film was about, but it seemed to focus on a tyre with special abilities, which it used to destroy everything that came in its way.  The tyre had an audience consisting of men, women and children. They watched through binoculars as the tyre was “born” and discovered its power.

The 3 Act Structure

Act 1: The Setup

Who is the film about?  Rubber is about a tyre discovering its special abilities.

Who is the lead character? The Tyre. We can see this in the film because the characters are focused on this tyre and are intrigues with that it is going to do next.

What kind of Person are they? The tyre isn’t a person however it did show a lot of human traits such as, frustration, anger, and joy. You can see it getting frustrated and angry when it first comes out from under the ground and is trying to stand up straight. Also when it fails to break the glass bottle.  The tyre appears to be happy when it blows the man at the petrol stations head off, and destroys the animals.

 Though any joy the tyre gets is at the expense of destroying someone or something else. So the tyre appears to have an evil personality.

After the setup comes the plot point. In this film I think that plot point came after the tyre destroyed the rabbit.  Loud music came on straight after and continued to play as the tyre went on its way. It was then, that the tyre seemed to be in full control of its powers.  We know knew who this character was, and what it was capable of. It left us wondering what direction the film was going to take with the tyre.
